After more than five years living and working in Ghana, I have picked up my work as an international consultant again. I enjoy working on assignments in the field of strategy and implementation, management and organizational development, and business development, both in the Netherlands and in Africa. I bring a rich experience in national and international education and in the public domain, a good humored personality and a great deal of stamina. I like to connect – in my professional work and on a personal level. And it is my ambition to make this world a better place.
Strategy development and implementation: for many years I worked in The Netherlands on strategy development in knowledge intensive organizations. I helped universities, municipalities, public and private organizations to redefine their strategies and to implement new approaches. I am ready to pick up this type of assignments again, preferably with an international focus.
Management and organizational development: ever since I started working I have taken up assignments and played roles in management, interim management and organizational development. I like to associate myself with staff and management of organizations, and collaboratively strive to realize the goals of the organization.
Business development: I see great opportunities for business development between Africa and the Netherlands. When in Ghana I worked on building Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (a local Chamber of Commerce) into a modern organization supporting private companies and public institutions. I would love to do assignments supporting Dutch companies and educational institutions to set foot on African soil.
This site will tell you more about my professional career. As the crow flies: the first twenty years of my career I worked in management roles in universities. I was Director of the Law Faculty at Maastricht University, Director Student Services at Amsterdam University and Strategy Director at Leiden University.
From 2000 until 2011 I worked as a consultant, first as a partner in Dutch consultancy firm Andersson Elffers Felix (www.aef.nl), and later as an independent consultant. I was particularly comfortable when working in projects that combined strategy and organizational development.
More than five years in Ghana (2011 – 2017) have been a voyage of discovery, both professionally and personally. It was a great joy and a big challenge to help China Europe International Business School (where I was the Executive Director Business of the Ghana branch) develop not only inspiring programs for senior executives in Africa, but also a sustainable business model. In the process I learned about Africa, and I learned about myself. I have become inspired by the people of Africa and by the opportunities in that continent.
After returning from Ghana I worked as interim manager Global Development at NUFFIC in The Hague, as interim director for QANU, a Dutch organization for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and as a consultant I executed assignments for Tilburg University/Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Wageningen Center for Development Innovation and for the National Commission Code of Conduct International Students in Dutch Higher Education.
